Paramount production on hold
Quote from customguns on 08/12/2023, 12:57I’ve heard that CVA has put a hold on Paramount production due to the shortage of BH209. Recently confirmed that with CVA. Don’t understand that strategy. Anyone heard any different?

Thats what I’ve read online as well. I was havin this very discussion with a cpl ppl not long ago. That excuse set off my BS alarm bigtime. The prob is their guns, NOT BH 209. Whats been goin on with BH209 for the last cpl yrs has affected the entire modern inline market, NOT – just CVA or NOT – just the Paramounts. Its not even a halfway decent or believable excuse really. The fact that their announcement isn’t covered in flies is abit surprising really.

From what I’ve read & heard from many Paramount owners in the last 4 yrs it the blowback has certainly been one of its regularly reported issues as well as the occasional flame cutting breech plugs. But they fall second & third to the amount of far too negative reports on their barrel bores being very inconsistent in bore concentricity. That is by far their #1 reported quality control promlem.
I get why they made the bolt nose designed with the relief spring, why all of them did not function the same I wonder if that is due to the poor quality springs themselves vs the bolt nose or the overall design? BUt then I read reports from ppl that CVA gave them a heavier spring & it did not fix their blowback issue either about the overall design being flawed.
Mine wasn’t a prob with blowback at all until I started pushing velocity past 2500fps. Prior to that, mine didn’t leak enough to be any issue at all.

Quote from Sideshow on 08/19/2023, 07:31The problem with the variflame system is you can hardly seal the flat rim against a flat bp surface without perfect alignment and even then its gonna weep . Theres a reason the valves and seats in your car engine are at mating 45 deg angles . The spring was acually a brilliant pressure relif system if they wouldve used angled mating of variflame to bp . The only system out there that protected against destructive overpressure useage . Idea was good but execution was poor . Bad engineering honestly tarnished the design . They ran with the variflame as is from Canada . A dumb move from a engineer that should know a wedgeing action is needed to seal pressures effectively and consistantly . If overcharge occurs from too much bh209 or smokeless excessive pressures so be it let it leak and flame cut . Beats the barrel explostion waiting to happen otherwise . Ignorance with greed or lust inspired velocity gains can be deadly . ASGs system , as you found out , isnt all that smokeless compatible either . That may be a good thing in disguise with a factory barrel .
